  Citizenship: For US Citizens only  
       
  Name: Embassy of France in the United States: Chateaubriand Fellowship  
     
  Purpose: Annual award to enable doctoral candidates and young scientists in the U.S. to conduct research in France at a university, school of engineering, or a public or private laboratory for periods of 6 to 12 months.  
     
  Field: Fields of science and technology, including mathematics, all types of engineering, biology, medicine, environmental sciences, etc.  
       
  Eligibility: An applicant must be a U.S. citizen or be registered with a U.S. university or a U.S. National Laboratory. Both current doctoral candidates and scholars who have received the Ph.D. degree within the past five years are eligible. An applicant must be accepted by a French research institution to be eligible for the fellowship.  
       
  Amount: 2055 Euros a month for doctoral and 2466 Euros a month for post-doctoral fellows, round-trip ticket, and health insurance abroad.
