  Name: University of Notre Dame, African and African-American Studies Program: Erskine A. Peters Dissertation Year Fellowship  
     
  Purpose: Annual fellowship to support African-American ABD doctoral candidates for one year during the completion of their dissertation work. The goals are to allow the students to devote their full energies on their dissertation and to simultaneously experience life at a major Catholic research university.  
     
  Field: Humanities, social sciences, theological studies  
       
  Eligibility: Must be African-American scholar. Must have completed all requirements for Ph.D. except dissertation.  
       
  Amount: $25,000 plus $2,000 research and travel grant  
       
  Deadline: 12/01/2009
